The Hazardous Materials Management Program requires the company to assess the hazards of the materials that our employees or contractors store or handle. The program also requires the company to implement a separate Hazard Communication Program, which facilitates information to be shared with employees about the hazardous materials to which they may be exposed. The Hazard Materials Management and Hazard Communication programs rely on labels and other forms of warnings, material safety data sheets, and information and training.

Title | Duration (Minutes) | Type | Description |
Working Safely With Benzene Training | 60 | Course |
Goal Overview Benzene is widely used in the United States, ranking in the top 20 chemicals for production volume. It is primarily used as a solvent, as a starting material for the production of other chemicals, and as a gasoline additive. Breathing benzene can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and unconsciousness; long-term benzene exposure causes effects on the bone marrow and can cause anemia and leukemia. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognizes benzene as a hazardous material and imposes strict exposure limits in the workplace. This course presents an overview of benzene and its health risks, and provides information on the occupational requirements and methods to protect against exposure to benzene. It was developed with subject matter support provided by EnSafe Inc., a global professional services company focusing on engineering, environment, health and safety, and information technology.
